Phillip F. (Phil) Cooper, 91, passed away Sunday, November 4, 2012 at Mercy West Lakes. A family memorial service will be held at a later date with private inurnment at Resthaven Mausoleum.
Phil was born in Perry, Iowa and lived most of his life in West Des Moines. He was a WWII U.S. Army veteran serving in Germany. He spent 25 years as a Des Moines educator serving as a teacher at Tech. High School, vice-principal at East High School, and principal at Hiatt, Goodrell and Hoyt Middle Schools.
Phil is survived by two daughters, Pam Curtis and Kim (Steve) Gedden, both of Urbandale; five grandchildren, David (Rachel) Curtis, Scott Curtis, Kelly (Mark) Craiger, Brian (Molly) Gedden and Jenn (Kevin) Gurley; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Donna.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Mercy Hospice.
Phil was a wonderful father and will be greatly missed by his family.
