Kyle P. Smith, 58, of 3404 S.W. Second St., Des Moines, and formerly of Ottumwa, died at 3 p.m. November 10, 2012, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.
He was born December 8, 1954 in Ottumwa to Hubert L. and Barbara Hedges Smith.
A graduate of Ottumwa High School in 1973, and from the University of Iowa, he has lived in Des Moines for more than the past 20 years.
He worked as a customer service representative for Marsh McClennan in Des Moines.
He enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Surviving is his mother, Barbara Smith of Ottumwa; two brothers, Kim and Kriss Smith both of Ottumwa; a niece, Lyndsey Smith; three nephews, Tyler, Dylan and Tanner Smith; a great-niece, Adalyn Smith; a great-nephew, Sawyer Pierce; and a special friend, Gary Kane of Des Moines.
He was preceded in death by his father, Hubert Smith and his grandparents.
Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, at Reece Funeral Home in Ottumwa with Rev. Jane Martinez officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery.
Visitation will be open after 11 a.m. Monday, at the funeral home with the family present one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to East End Presbyterian Church at 105 S. Iowa Ave. Ottumwa, IA 52501.
A memorial service will be held in Des Moines at a later date.
