Thelma L. “Sue” Harmon, 88, of the 1200 block of Cummins Road died of congestive heart failure Wednesday at Iowa Methodist Medical Center. The body was cremated, and private services will be held at a later date.
Mrs. Harmon was born in Osborn, Mo., and had lived in Des Moines most of her life. She was a retired cook at Iowa State University and a member of Daughters of the American Revolution. She enjoyed reading, fishing and playing cards and bingo.
She is survived by a daughter, Sondra Sullivan of Des Moines; and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bert.
Memorial contributions may be made to Daughters of the American Revolution or the Iowa Chapter of the Campfire Girls. Southtown Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
