One woman, one week shy of 86 years; eight children; 14 grandchildren; 12 great- grandchildren; 34 lives a direct result of your being on earth; 34 lives mourning the loss of our matriarch.
Jacqueline Staebell (Mulstay) Raney, 86, passed away peacefully at Iowa Methodist Medical Center on September 19, 2010, surrounded by her family. Jackie was preceded in death by her parents, Kathryn Fleming and Bernard Staebell.
After leaving Des Moines, Jackie lived in the Denver are in the late 1960's where she retired from a career as an executive secretary for Management Recruiters. She returned to Des Moines in 2005 to be closer to her family. She will be missed by many.
As an only child, Jackie desired a large family. She and her late husband, James B. Mulstay, had eight children during their time together. She is survived by her children, Patrick Mulstay (Marcy), Starlyn Parker (Patrick), James Mulstay (Jan) of Englewood, CO, Paul Mulstay (Rene), Sheryl Mulstay-Paul (Jim), Michele Samuelson (Mark) of Aurora, CO, Jeanne Mulstay (Joe) Barett, and Joseph Mulstay (Ramona). Her wonderful sense of humor, warmth, kindness, and wisdom will be missed. She will also be missed by her two kitties, Baby and Elvira.
It was Jackie's wish to be cremated. A Celebration of Life will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, September 22 at Merle Hay Funeral Home (4400 Merle Hay Rd., Des Moines). In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Rescue League or the charity of your choice.
