Elizabeth Ann Cerar, 57, of Des Moines passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at Taylor House on September 18, 2010 after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Memorial services will take place at the Merle Hay Funeral Home, 4400 Merle Hay Road, Des Moines, Iowa on Wednesday, September 22 at 2 p.m. Visitation will take place from 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home on Tuesday, September 21. Private inurnment will take place at Chapel Hill Gardens in Des Moines.
Elizabeth Ann Cerar was born in Des Moines, Iowa on July 12, 1953 to Raymond and Sandra Cerar. She graduated from Johnston High School in 1971. Following her education, she worked at the Adventureland Inn, Mercy Medical Center and Broadlawns Medical Center as a housekeeper. Libby enjoyed needle-working and crafts. She also had a passion for singing, dancing, and was happiest when she was surrounded by her family and friends. She loved spending time with her dog Ollie.
Libby was a member of the Church of the Holy Spirit, MMC and SNPJ, Slovenian Lodge.
Libby is survived by her mother, Sandra Sparks of Des Moines; Stepmother, Edith Cerar "Mama Edie" of Johnston; sister, Tamela (Don) Allen of Santa Rosa, CA; half-sister, Danielle Sparks of Des Moines; step-sisters, Laurel Stockman (David Free) of Des Moines and Catharine (Dan) Windus of Adel; step-brother, Scot Kenoyer of Fort Branch, IN; god-daughter, Emily Hicks; best friends, Lucile Jamison and Roy William both of Des Moines along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles. She was preceded in death by her father, Raymond and her grandparents.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the Taylor Hospice House in Des Moines, IA. Special thanks to Doctor Tim and the nurses who gave Libby so much care.
