Lyle Lee Wensel, 67, went to be with the Lord on December 21, 2011 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. A memorial service celebrating his life will be at a later date for family and friends.
Lyle was born September 5, 1944 in Corydon, IA to Joe and Rosie Wensel. He graduated from Hoover High School in San Diego, CA where he resided for the majority of his life. Lyle was a Navy Vietnam Veteran and worked construction, working on many government projects. He returned to Des Moines 15 years ago to be near family and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his father, Joe Wensel.
Lyle's memory will be cherished by his mother, Rosie Wensel; two sons, Dean Wensel and Dale Wensel and brother, Larry Wensel as well as other extended family members and friends.
