Funeral Services for Mrs. Strong Held Friday
Mrs. Ellen. O'Lena Strong was born in LaErable, Illnois, August 19, I872 and died Monday, Feb. 24 at the age of 63 years, 6 months and 5 days.
In. 1892 she moved with her parents to Otega, Kans. She was united in marriage to D. U, Strong on Jan. 1, 1895 and four years later moved to Kankakee, III where they lived on a farm until 1909 when they came to Iowa, locating on a farm 1 1/2 mile south of Ware. Five years later they moved onto the Shank farm near there where the family now resides.
Eight children were born to this union. One son and two daughters died, in infancy and John died in 1918. She was a member of. the American-Legion-Auxiliary-and-a gold star mother
She is survived by her husband, two sons, Dossie and Fred and two daughters, Mrs, James Donahue and Bertha. Three brothers and three sisters; William and Archel O'Lena of St. Anne; Illinois, George O'Lena of Blue Island, 1llinois, Mrs. Mary Horrell of Trenton, Nebr., Mrs. Jennie Shipley and Mrs. Emma LaFond of St. Anne, 1llinois, two brothers-preceded her in death.
Funeral services were held at Sacred Heart church, Friday morning at 10 o'clock. The Rev. Geo. F. Wessling officiated., Burial was in Summit Hill cemetery.
The pallbearers were John Mordan. Perry Pearson, Robert Flagor, J. F, O'Brien, Henry Deheck and Ed Burke.
