DIED

JOHNSON—In the Samaritan hospital, Sioux City, Iowa, Saturday, July 6, 1907, LeRoy Johnson, of cancer, aged 22 years, 6 months and 22 days.

Deceased had been very ill for several weeks before going to the hospital with what was considered pneumonia. The development of an apparent abscess in his side made it necessary for him to enter the hospital. An operation by Dr. Jepson revealed a far advanced cancerous affection and a large growth was removed Monday July 1. However, he was unable to rally from the shock of the operation and the inroads of disease, and passed away Saturday morning.

LeRoy Johnson was born at Admah, Nebraska, December 14, 1884. When a child, his parents moved to a farm near Pender, Nebraska, where they lived for a number of years. Later they located at Armour, S. D., and about four years ago the family came to Akron. His father, E. L. Johnson, bought the Chamberlin confectionary and conducted the business until his death in February, 1906. His sister, Miss Lila, also died here about three years ago. To the bereaved mother and the surviving sister and brother, Miss Lula and Leon, the death of Roy adds a great weight of sorrow, in which they have the heartfelt sympathy of all. He was a young man of clean, worthy character, and of an unusually industrious nature, highly esteemed by all who knew him.

The remains were brought here from Sioux City Saturday evening, accompanied by the family, his uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Johnson, and their son, Hazel, of South Sioux City, Nebraska.

The funeral was held Sunday afternoon in the M. E. church, Rev. Plummer preaching the sermon. There was a large attendance of friends. Interment in Riverside cemetery.

Mr. Maloney an old-time friend of the family came over from Pender.
