Gertrude Murphy was born near Coin, Iowa, May 6, 1885 and died at her home June 12, 1912, age 27 years. She united with the Methodist Church January 1, 1902, and lived a faithful Christian until her death. About three years ago her health began to fail, and everything was done that could be done for her, but to no avail, for her work here on earth was finished. For the last year she was not able to attend services, but she was hopeful, always trusting in the Lord. For five years she taught school and was a successful teacher. Through her sickness she was always patient and kind, thinking of others and not of herself. She leaves to mourn her loss a father and mother, six brothers, three sisters and a host of friends. Services were held from the some Friday at 2 p.m., conducted by Rev. Pruitt.
