Mrs. Charley Walters,* nee Emma Schaffer was born in Keystone, Iowa, December 9, 1881. Throughout her whole life she has been blessed with good health until this spring. Following the advice of the physician she underwent an operation, but all the skill of the physicians was not sufficient to help her, though it gave her temporary relief. The last eight weeks of her life proved to be a special time in which God hath layed a heavy cross of suffering upon her shoulders, but she bore it patiently, realizing that all things must serve to the best of them that love the Lord. During this time she was under the constant care of a special nurse, Miss Eisenbrandt of George, Iowa. And her home where she hath throughout her life cared for her family was turned into a hospital in which her loved ones could give her the best of care. She passed to her heavenly rest at 1:45 Monday afternoon, Oct. 1, attaining the age of 46 years, 9 months and 11days.

She was united in marriage to Charley Walters,* Oct.3, 1900. To this union were born four daughters; Alice, Helen, Grace and Faith. On the 9th of August, 1925, she was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church with the adult class of that time. This step she never regretted, and especially on her sick and death bed it was a comfort to her.

The family has for many years been residents of our vicinity and always were held in high esteem by all who knew them. She leaves to mourn her departure, her beloved husband, four daughters, Mrs. Isaac Muilenberg of Melvin; Helen, Grace and Faith still at home; four grandchildren, her aged father of Slayton, Minn.; two sisters, Mrs. Henry Fink of Melvin; Mrs. Louis Merry of Lewistown, Montana; five brothers, William of Melvin, Henry of Slayton, Minn.; Louis of Melvin; George and August of Slayton, Minn. And many more distance relatives and friends. One brother and sister preceded her in death.

Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. G. Goeken in the Lutheran Church, Thursday afternoon, Oct. 4th after which the remains were layed to rest in the Baker Township Cemetery.
