Mrs. John R [Jack] Nylen,a retired registered nurse, died Thrsday at a Sioux City hospital of cancer.
Services were held Saturday morning at Morningside Luthran Church. The Rev. Neal S. Johnson officiated. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Nylen, the former June E. Wiese, was born June 8, 1925 at Sibley. She was reared on a farm near Ocheyedan, graduated from high school at Sutherland in 1942. She received her pre nursing training at the University of Iowa and was graduated from the Lutheran Hospital Schoool of Nursing in Sioux City.
She was married to Mr. Nylen June 8, 1947 at Sutherland. The Nylens were residents of Paullina at one time where Mr. Nylen was in the poultry business. She had been a resident of Sioux City since 1963. A registered nurse, she was employed at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital from 1965 ntil 1973.
Mrs. Nylen was a member of Morningside Lutheran Church.
A memorial has been established in her name at the Oncology (Cancer Treatment) Department at Marian Health Center, St. Jospeph Unit.
Survivors include the widower; three sons: Jon of Bronson, Ia., Scott of Sioux City and Mark at home; a daughter, Mrs. John (Nancy) Branch, Jr. of Sioux City; and her mother, Mrs. Carl Wiese of Hartley; a brother, Donald of Sunland, Calif.; and five grandchildren
