Hello Richard,
There was a Joseph O McBride, age 27 yrs, reported in the 1856 Iowa State Census as living in Muscatine, IA. It said that he had been in the State of IA for 7 months and was born in OH. His wife was Emeline, and children were Mary 5, Alice C 3 and Daniel H 1 yr.
With that I looked for a Daniel McBride living in OH. In the 1860 Federal Census, living in Village Chardon, Geanga County, OH, there is such a person. Census was taken 1 Jun 1860. Pg 4
Daniel McBride 69 ys Gardiner b. NY
Roxena 59 yrs b. NY
Lucine 29 yrs physican b. NY
Celestia 24 yrs b. OHFind a grave has a cemetery record for Daniel McBride 1791-1865 Chardon, Geanga Co., OH
I would like to suggest that you see if Daniel had a probate record, filed in Geanga County, for there may be a reference to Joseph O, that would prove that this Daniel was his father.
You could also track down other family members to see if there is a mention of Joseph O in their obituaries.
There is a Daniel cBride 64 yrs and Roxena McBride 54 yrs reported in the NY State 1855 census. They were living in Chautauqua, Villenova Co. NY at the time.
Sure would be helpful to find Joseph Orr McBride in the 1850 census. What do you know of Emeline's side ofthe family?
Attempting to brainstorm....
