Robert Obituary and it says the following: The Myers Funeral
Funeral rites for Robert S. Myers 52, who died Saturday in Des Moines were held at 1 pm Wednesday in tghe Runge Chapel, with Rev, E. Wesley Perry officiating. Burial was in Rock Island Arsenal Cemetery. Bearers ere Otto Moeller, J. Lyle, John Baldridge and Jess DeRouse.
Robert S. Myers 52, a resident of Davenport most of his life, died at 6:20 am Saturday in the Veteran's Hospital, Des Moines after a short illness. He was born June 7, 1891 in Plainfield, Ill. and came to Davenport with his parents when a small boy. He received his education in the Davenport Schools, and married Liilan Springer Jan. 13, 1918 in Muscatine. Following their marriage the couple moved to Davenport and have resided here since. Mr. Myers, a veteran of World War I was a member of several veerans organizations. Survivors include his wife: one daughter Mrs. D. E. Stansbury of Davenport, one son Raymond R. Myers and three grandchildren. The body has been removed to the Runge Mortuary pending funeral arrangements.as for Lillian D. Springer her obituary states as follows: Funeral rites for Mrs. Lillian Myers 56 who died Sunday were held at 2:30 pm Wednesday in the Runge Chapel with the Rev. William Kmet officiating Mrs. Philip McDermott sang several hymns. Burial was in the Fairmount Cemetery. Bearers were Robert Carter, Clarence Loving, Julius Johannsen, John Miller, Noah Salyars and Ed Downs.
Mrs. Lillian Myers 56 resudent if Davenport died at 3:39 pm Sunday in Mercy Hospital following a lingering illness. She was born Jan. 16, 1888 in Muscatine where she received her education and later married Robert S. Myers on Dec. 13, 1918. The couple moved to Davenport and has made their home here since. Her husband preceded her in death. Survivors include two daughters Mrs. Reva of Muscatine and Mrs. Florence Stansberry of Davenport and one son Mr. Raymond R. Myers of Davenport one brother William J. Springer of Davenport one sister Mrs. Mildred O'Melia of Atalissa, Ia and five grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 pm Wednesday in the Runge Chapel. Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery.
I do have a copy of Robert J. Myers Registration Card #625 in my position too. I know that he was a short man with medium build and he had grey eyes and his hair color was brown. That information was dated on June 5, 1917.
