Warren M. Angel (1856-1945)was born and raised in Muscatine County. The following biographical account in Wren’s History of Nevada (1904) contains several errors.
Warren's father, "Fernando Cortez Angel, was born in the state of New York in 1829, and he married a native of the state of New Jersey. Shortly after their marriage they came to the state of Iowa and in the days before the railroads, Mr. Angel drove a stage. One cold winter night, he was so benumbed that at the end of his drive he could not speak or move, and had to be taken down from his seat. He never recovered from this exposure and he died in 1862 when only thirty-three years old." As Fernando Cortez Angel executed his last will and testament on 23 December 1861 and passed away the next day, it seems possible that he actually died almost immediately of exposure. I would be very grateful to know of any other account of this tragedy.
