Page 1(Muscatine) Mrs. Sophia M. Farver, former resident of this city, passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J. H. Gonse, in Muscatine early Sunday morning. Deceased had been in failing health for some time and had removed from Wapello to Muscatine last fall in order to be with her daughter. She gradually grew weaker, passing away July 19th. Mrs. Farver was 71 years of age at the time of her death and had been a resident of Louisa and Muscatine counties all her life. She was married to the late J. C. Farver a few years ago and nursed him tenderly through his last illness. She was an earnest Christian woman, whose loss will be keenly felt by a great number of friends.
She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. J. H. Gonse, of Muscatine, two sisters, Mrs. Mary Chatfield, of Muscatine; Mrs. M. Scott, of Chicago and two brothers, David and James Corwin, residing near Muscatine. Six nephew acted as pall bearers as follows: Henry, Charles and James Connor, Arthur, Emory and Walter Chatfield. The funeral services were held at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Gonse in Muscatine, conducted by Rev. H. E. Butler of the Musserville church at 10:30 a. m. Tuesday and a short service at the M. E. church on Muscatine island. Interment in Island cemetery.
