Funeral services for Lester Conklin, 65, Atalissa, were held Jan. 27, 1989 at Snider Funeral Home in West Liberty with the Rev. Donald Thompson officiating. Burial was in the Oak Ridge cemetery.

Mr. Conklin died Jan. 24 at Veterans Administration hospital in Iowa City after a long illness.

The son of Elmer and Pearl Osborne Conklin, he was born Dec. 3, 1923 in West Liberty. He married Ida Prizler Dec. 5, 1947 in McGregor. He worked as a truck driver with Louis Rich Foods in West Liberty and then with Rohner Machine Works. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Mr. Conklin is survived by his wife; his mother of West Liberty; 3 sons, Edward and Jerry, both of West Liberty and Terry, Lodi, Wis.; a daughter, Patricia Conklin, West Liberty; 4 brothers, Roy, West Liberty; Lewis, Davenport; Vernon, Colorado Springs, Colo. and Bill, Albuquerque, N.M.; 3 sisters, Joann Thomas, Phoenix, Ariz.; Bertha Brayton, Thornton, Minn. and Wilma Wymer, Thayer, Mo. He was preceded in death by his father.
