Funeral services for Elwood "Ace" Giese, 50, Wilton, were held Aug. 9 at the Lacock Funeral Home in Wilton, with the Revs. Paul Faga and Larry Bunger officiating. Pallbearers were Ray Maurer, Jerry Moylan, Jerry Burr, Buss McKillip, Wayne Lincoln, Jerry Davies and Harry Seligman. Honorary pallbearers were Bill Woller, Gary Cooney, Doug Cook and Dick Oppelt. Burial was in Oakdale cemetery.
Mr. Giese died Aug. 7 at his home in Wilton.
The son of Arthur and Augusta Dohrmund Giese, he was born Dec. 31, 1934 in Muscatine county, near Wilton. He married Ruth Ovesen Aug. 1, 1970 in Wilton. He was a member of Zion Lutheran church, Wilton; the Muscatine Moose Lodge; a social member of the Wilton American Legion; the Iowa State Policeman's Association and he served as a firefighter with the Wilton volunteer fire department. He had been employed at Wilton Milk Products and worked for the Wilton police department from 1955 to 1984. For the past 17 years he was a heavy equipment operator and truck driver for REC/CIPCO.
Mr. Giese is survived by his wife; 4 sons, Bobby and Richard, both at home; Jeffery, Tipton and Kevin, Muscatine; his mother, Augusta Giese Lincoln, Wilton; 4 brothers, Lee Giese and Harris Giese, both of Davenport; Arthur Giese, Wilton and Kenneth Lincoln, Wilton and 4 sisters, Mrs. Paul (Hilda) Stoelk, Davenport; Mrs. Bud (Viola) Hull and Mrs. Wilbur (Nancy) Hammerich, both of Wilton and Mrs. Verlyne (Linda) Zurmiller, Stover, Mo. He was preceded in death by his father and stepfather, Philson Lincoln.
