Last rites for Howard W. (Mike) Faires, 81, were held at the West Liberty United Methodist church Sept. 9 with burial in the Lone Tree cemetery. Mr. Faires dies at Mercy hospital, Iowa City, Sept. 6.

A retired farmer, he had been employed at the University of Iowa. He was married to Irene Yette in Cedar Rapids in 1931. She died in 1969. He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Glen (Ruth) MacGowan, West Liberty, 4 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
