Funeral services for Lloyd Simpson, 64, were held at St. Joseph's Catholic church, West Liberty April 8 with the Rev. John Morrissey officiating. Burial was in Oak Ridge cemetery. Pallbearers were George Peden, Jack Simon, Raymond Pelzer, Duane and Glen Dotson and Lewis Erwin. Honorary pallbearers were Robert Milder and Steve Hinkhouse. Mrs. Patricia Daufeldt was organist.

Mr. Simpson died at University hospital, Iowa City, April 3.

The son of Ryle and Mary Unkel Simpson, he was born in Muscatine county Dec. 6, 1921. He was married to Mary Jane Porter at Nichols Sept. 27, 1948. He farmed all his life in Cedar county.

He entered military service Dec. 7, 1942 and served overseas from Jan. 23, 1945 to Dec. 29, 1945, participating in the Rhineland and Central Europe Campaigns as a staff sergeant and squad leader. He was a member of the 502nd Parachute Inf. Reg. of the 101st Airborne Inf. Div. He received the Combat infantry Parachute badge and 2 campaign ribbons. He was discharged from service Jan. 18, 1946.

He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic church, American Legion and a veteran of World War II.

He is survived by 2 daughters, Mrs. Rob (Sheri) Chelf and Mrs. Scott (Julie) McKillip, West Liberty; 3 sons, Ronald, Atalissa and Lindsey and Marc, both of West Liberty; a sister, Mrs. Francis (Gertrude) Coder, Nichols and 11 grandchildren.
