Last rites for William Townsend, 58, were held at West Liberty Nov. 27 with the Rev. Ralph Farmer officiating. Burial, with military honors, is at the Oak Ridge cemetery, West Liberty. Mr. Townsend died at Veteran's hospital, Iowa City, Nov. 24.

The son of Edward and Olive Hary Townsend, he was born at West Liberty Oct. 4, 1926. He was a chef and cook for many years. He was a veteran of World War II.

He is survived by 4 sisters, Mrs. Helen Lenz, Iowa City, Mrs. Lois Brick, West Branch, Mrs. Edna Sebelien, Coal Valley, Ill. and Mrs. Joan Wilson, Maricopa, Ariz.
