Funeral services for Mearl Nebergall, 76, Atalissa, were held June 15 at the Zion Lutheran church in Atalissa with the Rev. William Bentzinder officiating. Pallbearers were Harvey Staley, Harold Staley, Albert Daufeldt, Jerry McMichael, George King and Arlie Sheckles. Mrs. Naomi Bentzinger was soloist and Chris Staley was the organist. Burial was in the PeeDee cemetery east of Springdale.
Mr. Nebergall died June 13 at Mercy hospital in Iowa City following an extended illness.
He was born Nov. 27, 1907 in Cedar county to Roy and Phoebe Ford Nebergall. He married Lois Rehbehn Aug. 24, 1933 in Atalissa. He was well known for his love of horses and was a member of the West Liberty Silver Stirrups saddle Club, Mississippi Valley Saddle Club, Midwest Horseman Assocation and the Hawkeye Saddle Club of Muscatine.
Mr. Nebergall was a retired Cedar county farmer.
He is survived by his wife, 2 sons, Hilbert, Nichols and Karl, Atalissa; a daughter, Mrs. Rodney (Ileen) Hanson, Atalissa; 5 grandchildren and 2 sisters, Mrs. Mildred Waugh, Tampico, Ill. and Mrs. Florence Pentzel, Tipton.
