AGED MUSCATINE MAN MURDERS HIS FORMER EMPLOYE
LURES VICTIM TO HIS DEATH IN SWAN STORE
George Volgar, the Murdered Man, Left Swan's Employ Ten Years Ago, and Started Rival StoreMUSCATINE, Aug.1-- Apparently deranged by business troubles, F.W. Swan, 71, a jeweler here made an appointment with George H. Volgar, 36, business rival in the Swan store yesterday, shot him dead and then walked a block to an undertaking parlor and committed suicide by taking poison.
Volgar worked for ten years in the Swan store before going into business for himself ten years ago after a quarrel with his employer. Swan left a note to police charging that Volgar had been "lying about those near to him."
