ELDRIDGE-Mary Ann Ripperger, 84, of Eldridge, passed away on Tuesday, July 27, 2021 at Manor Care – Utica Ridge in Davenport.
Funeral Services & Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, July 31, 2021 at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Davenport. Visitation will be held on Friday evening from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Chambers Funeral Home in Eldridge. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Friday evening at the funeral home. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the family.
Mary Ann was born August 10, 1936 in rural Weller, Iowa, the daughter of Joseph C. & Mary A. (Hutta) Crall. She attended country schools in early years and graduated from Lovilia High School. Mary Ann was a telephone operator for Northwestern Bell in Des Moines.
On June 2, 1956, she was united in marriage to Michael E. Ripperger at St. Mary's Church in Weller. He preceded her in death on January 8, 2017.
Mary Ann and Mike had spent their early years in Des Moines until moving to Pleasant Valley and building their home there in 1966. She and her family like to travel to many interesting places in the country and world. Together they enjoyed fishing, boating and camping. She had even hunted deer with Mike at Wildcat Den a few times. She was a ready volunteer for many projects and enjoyed gardening and tending to her flower beds.
She had made communion breads for the Diocese of Davenport at the Carmelite Monastery in Bettendorf and served many funeral dinners at Our Lady of Lourdes parish. She was also a ready babysitter of neighbors, friends and relatives.
She will be remembered as a wonderful homemaker and a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Those left to honor her memory include her daughter, Jeana Larvenz (Don Van Wychen) of Moline; her son, Michael Ripperger of Anamosa; her granddaughter, Jamie; her great-grandchildren, Maria, Eric and Carmen; her great-great-grandchildren, Alana and Oliver; her sister, Sheila (Richard) Sager of Lovilia; her brother, James (Linda) Crall of Newton; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Michael; Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Jack, Patrick & William; and an infant daughter, Mary.
