29 January 2025Norma V. Harris, 86, of Onawa, Iowa passed away Sunday, January 19, 2025 at Burgess Health Center, Onawa, Iowa.
A funeral service will be 11:00 A.M. Friday, January 24, 2025 at the Goslar Funeral Home Chapel, Onawa, Iowa with Darren C. E. Goslar, officiating. A live stream of the service will be posted on the Goslar Funeral Home website with Norma’s obituary. Burial will follow in the Kennebec Cemetery, Castana, Iowa. A visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Friday, January 24, 2025 at the Goslar Funeral Home Chapel. Arrangements are under the direction of Goslar Funeral Home and Monuments, Onawa, Iowa.
Norma Virginia was born March 5, 1938, the daughter of John and Emma (Jenkins) McCall near Castana, Iowa. She grew up on small farms near Whiting, Smithland, and Castana. Norma was baptized May 27, 1958 at the First Christian Church in Onawa by Reverend Everett Epperson. Norma received her high school diploma.
Norma McCall and Joe Harris were united into marriage August 29, 1970 in Reno, Nevada. The couple had moved to California and lived there for many years. Joe passed away April 8, 1995.
Norma worked for a defense company doing computer programing for over forty years near San Francisco, California. Upon her retirement she returned to Onawa, Iowa to care for her parents. Norma’s favorite activities were to play Sudoku and visit the local casino. She was a past member of the order of the Eastern Star.
In Onawa, she met Jim Owens, and they enjoyed each other’s company on day trips, by car, through the countryside and eating out. Norma was a generous lady and will be dearly missed.
Survivors include her companion and partner, James Owens of Onawa, Iowa; one brother, Cleo McCall of New Jersey; and several other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Emma (Jenkins) McCall.
