Jimmie Vernon was born January 14, 1945, in rural Castana, Iowa, the son of Vernon and Evva (Greenough) Mauch. He grew up in Castana and attended Castana school.
Jim and Judith Sibert were united in marriage in July 16, 1962. To this union they had four children: Jacqueline, Jimmie Jr., Sherry, and Gail. He worked at John Deere as a mechanic for 45 years in Onawa, Iowa.
Jim enjoyed coon hunting, John Deere Tractors, riding horses, attending horse shows earlier in his life, playing cards, watching old westerns, and square dancing. Jim and Doris taught square dancing classes together. He always was willing to help his friends work on their tractors.
