Danny (Dan) E. Snodgrass, 61, of Gainesville, TX, formerly of Sioux City, IA, died Wednesday, July 3rd, in Denton, TX. Dan had been hospitalized and awaiting surgery when he suffered from sudden cardiac arrest. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at Christy-Smith Funeral Homes Morningside Chapel at 1801 Morningside Avenue with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be held at a later date in the Fairview Cemetery at Albaton.

Dan was born May 8, 1963, to Jerry and Toni (Olson) Snodgrass in Onawa, IA. Shortly after his birth, his family moved to Sioux City, IA. Dan was a 1981 graduate of East High School. Dan continued on to college and graduated from Wayne State College in the winter of 1985.

Shortly after college, Dan and some friends ventured to Texas where he made his home. He worked at a window company for a few years, but in 1990, he started as a shop technician for Texas Process Equipment Company (TPE). Over the years, he put his mechanical skills and knowledge to work as an inside sales representative, where he assisted customers with applications. The shop people still came to Dan for questions and ways to problem solve. For 34 years, he was a dedicated employee who always put his customers and vendors first. Dan was a true professional and well respected at TPE.

Dan was a devoted, loving, caring, and giving son, brother, uncle, nephew, and friend. He was always there for everyone. As stressful as mom and dad's winter visits could be, he loved getting that time with them. When Dan could not come back for the holidays, he would send a box of gifts and include everyone. Sometimes he did not have a birthday card, and you would get a Christmas card. He sent boxes of Dallas Cowboys gear, Buccees shirts and gear, Texas Rangers for the baseball fans and many more things. He spoiled all of us, especially his nieces, nephews, and even his friend's kids. When Dan did visit Iowa (the only vacation he ever took), he was always helping his siblings and friends with cars, our houses, fixing things, putting things together for us. He never complained and just helped, even though it was his vacation.

Growing up, Dan enjoyed little league baseball, football, hanging out with neighborhood and school friends. He started working as early as he could, with a paper route, Godfather's Pizza, delivering for Artic Ice and many more. Dan loved to go hunting with his brothers and friends. He enjoyed watching sports, especially NASCAR. He loved going with friends and family to the Texas Speedway for a day of racing. This is one thing he and dad enjoyed the most. He loved all kinds of music, especially the older country the last few years. He always brought his golf clubs home for a game of golf with friends or his nephew, Jeremy. Most of all, in the past 25 years, he loved his Saturdays with his best friend, Steve. They would spend the days grilling and smoking meats, having some drinks, helping each other on their acreages, and watching NASCAR and other sports. Dan will truly be missed by so many.

Dan is survived by his five siblings. Scott of Sioux City, IA, Melissa (Greg) of Missouri Valley, IA, Amy (Eric) of Sioux City, IA, Doug of Sioux Rapids, IA, and Bob of Sioux City, IA; Nephews and nieces: Jeremy (Kylie) Maxfield, Lauren and Madalyn Larson, Elliott Swenson, Ashley, Jillian, and Michayla (Zach) Snodgrass, Samantha, Jeff and Salena. His special Great niece Eliana, and many more great nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his Aunt Julie Casavant and many cousins.

Dan was preceded in death by his parents Jerry and Toni Snodgrass, his maternal grandparents Elliott and Maxine Olson, his paternal grandparents Earl and Catherine Snodgrass, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Memorials may be directed to the family, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, or Youth Pheasants Forever Woodbury County 72.
