BERTHA AND HERMAN KOSCHMEDER FAMILY

Herman Henry Koshmeder was born November 27, 1869 in Grapschen Kreis Breslau, Prussia to Heinrich and Christina Weise Koschmeder. He departed from Swinemunde, Germany on the S. S. Solvonia, with his parents, two brothers and two sisters. They arrived at the Port of New York on June 22, 1888 and were allowed to come ashore on the 25th. They had one piece of baggage for the entire family. They joined Herman's older brother, August near West Mitchell, Mitchell County, Iowa. The family started farming on Section 17, Mitchell Township.

On September 27, 1895, Herman and Bertha Elisa Wilhelmina Zarling were united in marriage at St. John's Lutheran Church, Rock Township, Mitchell County, Iowa.

Bertha was born on May 31, 1878 in Rock Township, Mitchell County, Iowa to Ferdinand and Mathilda Wegner Zarling.

Herman and Bertha were the parents of thirteen children.

Dorothea C. was born on January 9, 1897 in Rock Township, Mitchell County, Iowa. She married Otto G. Trachte on April, 1916 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Rock Township. They were the parents of Raymond and Roy. "Dora" passed away on November 15, 1971 in Marshfield, Wisconsin and is buried at the Brook Lawn Memory Gardens near Marshfield.

Alfred Heinrich Ferdinand was born on April 9, 1898 in Rock Township, Mitchell County, Iowa. He never married. Alfred passed away on November 22, 1965 in Osage, Iowa and is buried at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Rock Township, Mitchell County, Iowa.

Meta Anna Emilie was born on January 16, 1900 in Rock Township, Mitchell County, Iowa. She married Henry Herman Ahlf on November 28, 1918 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Rock Townshi. They were divorced. Meta married Leslie McLaughlin. They had one son, Leslie Jr. (died as an infant). "Mattie" passed away on November 23, 1965 in St. Paul, Minnesota and is buried at the Forrest Lawn Cemetery, St. Paul, Minnesota.

Josephine Anna Emma was born on August 25, 1901 in Rock Township, Mitchell County, Iowa. She married Frank Louis Pint on September 18, 1928 at Sacred Heart Church in Osage, Iowa. They were the parents of Delores (died as an infant), Florence Krones, Jean Alden, and Darlen Alden. "Josie" passed away on August 20, 1948 at home near Mitchell, Iowa and is buried at the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Osage, Iowa.

George Herman Emil was born on February 13, 1903 in Rock Township, Mitchell County, Iowa. George passed away on May 9, 1916 in Rock Township and is buried at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Rock Township, Mitchell County, Iowa.

Helene Martha Amanda was born on March 9, 1904 in Rock Township, Mitchell County, Iowa. She married Lawrence Casper Pint on November 26, 1925 at Sacred Heart Church, Osage, Iowa. They were the parents of Kenneth and Katherine Cahill. "Lena" passed away on May 31, 1984 in Osage and is buried at the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Osage, Iowa.

Hedwig Wilhelmina Helene was born on June 24, 1906 in Rock Township, Mitchell County, Iowa. She married Arnold Loftus on May 8, 1942 in Owatonna, Minnesota. They had no children. "Hattie" and Arnold reside at Waseca, Minnesota.

Alma Emma Hedwig was born on June 10, 1908 in Rock Township, Mitchell County, Iowa. She was never married. Alma passed away on November 11, 1976 in Austin, Minnesota and is buried at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Rock Township, Mitchell County, Iowa.

Edward Herman Henry was born on March 4, 1910 in Mitchell Township, Mitchell County, Iowa. He was never married. "Eddie" passed away on December 15, 1981 in Osage, Iowa and is buried at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Rock Township, Mitchell County, Iowa.

Frances Lydia Augusta was born on March 5, 1912 in Rock Township, Mitchell County, Iowa. She married Milton George Trout on January 21, 1932 in Osage, Iowa. They were the parents of Milton Eugene, and Evelyn Schnepper. Frances passed away on September 3, 1975 in Osage, Iowa and is buried at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Rock Township, Mitchell County, Iowa.

Gertrude Bertha Christiane was born on August 27, 1914 in Rock Township, Mitchell County, Iowa. She married Alvin Petznick on January 28, 1934 in Osage. They were the parents of a baby girl that died, and Glen. "Gertie" resides at the Maple Manor in Osage.

Julia Louise Hermine was born on April 21, 1917 in Rock Township, Mitchell County, Iowa. She married Elmer Herman Muller on January 16, 1946 in St. Paul, Minnesota. They were the parents of Connie Pell, Terry and Robert. "June" resides in Osage.

Roy William was born on July 27, 1921 in Rock Township, Mitchell County, Iowa. He married Margaret Doraline Kroneman on November 28, 1948 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Osage. They were the parents of Roger. Roy passed away on September 3, 1975 in Osage, Iowa and is buried at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Rock Township, Mitchell County, Iowa.

Herman and Bertha farmed in Mitchell County, Iowa for fifty years before retiring to Osage. They purchased a home at 1215 East Main Street, Osage. Herman passed away on May 6, 1952 in Osage and Bertha passed away on January 19, 1953 in Osage. Both are buried at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Rock Township, Mitchell County, Iowa.
