Bernice, Mrs. Robert G Nichols, 86, State Center, died Saturday, March 23, 2002 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames.
Funeral services were Tuesday, March 26 at the First Presbyterian Church in State Center with Rev Keith McDonald officiating. Burial followed at the Hillside cemetery.
She was born in State Center on October 27, 1915, the daughter of M E and Ida Mae Johnson Hilleman.
On April 10, 1938 in State Center she was united in marriage to Robert G Nichols and he survives.
There are two children surviving, Robert E (Gloria) Nichols of State Center and Mary Bess (Mrs John) Voigt of Ankeny.
Also surviving are three grandchildren and four great grandchildren; one sister, Bessie Conkin of State Center and one brother, Marvin Hilleman of Cedar Rapids.
Preceding her in death were her parents.
Raised and educated in State Center she graduated from State Center High School. Following their marriage she and her husband farmed many years east of State Center. She also helped found the State Center Almuni Association.
Mrs Nichols memberships include the First Presbyterian Church, the Presbyterian Women, State Center Woman's Club of which she was a former president and the Lincoln Valley Golf Club.
