Tim N. Meinders, 91, of Oskaloosa, Iowa, died Tuesday, February 23, 1999, at the Mahaska County Hospital in Oskaloosa.
He was born April 24, 1907, near Leighton in Mahaska County, Iowa, to Nicholas T. (Claas) and Marie Van Donselaar Meinders. He was educated at Black Oak Country Grade School.
On February 21, 1934, he married Della G. Van Hulzen at the home of the bride's parents near Rose Hill. They farmed near Pella until 1941 (7 years) and then moved to Rose Hill where they farmed until October 1993 (54 years) moving then to Oskaloosa.
He was a lifelong member of the Christian Reformed Church and a charter member of the Bethel Christian Reformed Church in Oskaloosa.
He is survived by his wife, Della of Oskaloosa; a son and a daughter-in-law, Clarence and Wilma Meinders of Pella; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Junella and Keith Schultz of Des Moines, Janice Lester of Montezuma, Carolyn and Rick Vos of Pella, and Shirley and Tony Van Zee of Pleasantville; and seventeen grandchildren, Mark Schultz, Michael Schultz, Natalie Young, Richard Meinders, Ronald Meinders, Kenneth Meinders, Calvin Meinders, Stanley Meinders, Gloria Stout, Jerry Lester, Karen Holmes, Roger Vos, Cheryl Van Wyk, Cindy Van Donselaar, Verlan Van Zee, Valerie Van Zee and Curtis Van Zee. He is also survived by nineteen great grandchildren: Lindsey Schultz, Brenna Schultz, Justin Schultz, Benjamin Schultz, Gale Schultz, Kaci Young, Brandon Young, Melissa Meinders, Riley Meinders, Timmy Meinders, Katie Meinders, Seth Meinders, Rachel Meinders, Christopher Stout, Megan Holmes, Jalen Van Wyk, Jenna Van Wyk, Shane Van Donselaar, and Cheyenne Van Donselaar; one brother, Everett Meinders of Leighton; one sister, Clara Groenenboom of Pella; and two sisters-in-law, Bernice Meinders of Pella and Anna Mae Hackert of Baxter.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, Clarence; three brothers, Albert in infancy, Albert in the military and Gilbert; and a son-in-law, Norman Lester.
Services were held at the Bethel Christian Reformed Church on Friday, February 26, 1999 at 1:30 p.m. with a family prayer service at 1:15 p.m. with Rev. Jesse Powell and Pastor Alvern Boetsma presiding. Internment was at Forest Cemetery (from Tim's funeral card)
