ROSE HILL - Raymond C. Walker, 86, of rural Rose Hill, died Thursday, July 20, at Mahaska County Hospital in Oskaloosa. His funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at First Christian Church in Oskaloosa. Burial: Tioga Cemetery near Rose Hill. Visiting hours with family will be 6-8 p.m. Saturday at Bates Funeral Chapel. Memorials: First Christian Church Building Fund.
Raymond Walker was born March 12, 1914, northeast of Oskaloosa, to Charles E. and Anna Mangerson Walker. On Aug. 7, 1936, he married Ruth Warrick in Galesburg, Ill. They farmed, first northeast of Oskaloosa for a few years. In 1943 they moved to a farm southeast of Rose Hill, and he continued in the farming operation until he died. He was a member of First Christian Church in Oskaloosa, and a charter member of Rose Hill Ruritan Club. Since 1977, he and his wife sponsored many Thai Dam families in the area.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth, of Rose Hill; a son and daughter-in-law: Leland and Joan Walker of Eldridge; and two daughters and a son-in-law: Charlotte and Leland Hintz of Des Moines, and Rhonda Walker at home; three grandchildren: Craig and Tina Hintz, and Emily Walker; a brother and sister-in-law: Cecil and Dorothy Walker of Des Moines; a sister and brother-in-law: Mildred and Leslie Patton of Centerville; and a sister-in-law, Helen Walker of Eddyville.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter, Laura Walker; two brother[sic]: Earl and Charles Walker; and a sister, Gail Doonan (The Oskaloosa Herald; date unknown)
