Mrs. Eliza Arnold, daughter of John and Anna Steele, was born in Alleghany county, Pa, May 8, 1834. In early life she came with her parents to lowa. She was united in marriage to Mr. David Arnold at Eddyville, lowa, in November, 1856. Died Nov, 24, 1891, near Cedar, lowa, where she has spent the greater part of her married life. She remembered her Creator in the days of her youth, united with the M. E. church and lived as earnest and consistent Christian until she passed from labor to reward. For many years she has been deeply afflicted with bronchial and pulmonary trouble, but during all her sufferings she manifested that patience, resignation and sweetness of spirit which Christianity alone can inspire. As her end drew near her faith in her Redeemer grew stronger and her hopes of Heaven brighter, saying to her husband shortly before her departure that she was "happy to the Lord." In all life's relations-as the faithful wife, tender and loving mother, kind and obliging neighbor, earnest and devoted Christian, she was known only to be respected and loved. She will be greatly missed, especially in her own home by husband and children. She was the mother of three children, all of whom survive her. They are members of the church militant and expect in the final re-union to join their mother in the church triumphant before the throne. J. B. HILL (Oskaloosa Herald, December 3, 1891)
