A telegram received from the governor of the Soldiers Home of Dayton, Ohio, by Commander Norton on Sunday, conveyed the information of the death of Michael McQuinney on Saturday, the 21st. The deceased left Blue Rapids a few weeks ago for Dayton to re-enter the Home. The remains were shipped to Blue Rapids for burial, arriving yesterday afternoon, and funeral services will be this afternoon at the Methodist church at 2 o'clock.
Michael, McQuinney was a native of Ireland, but came to this country at an early age and rendered faithful service to the Union during the rebellion. He served in Co. I, 10th Reg. Ohio Cavalry.
He was married May 21, 1879, at Winterset Iowa. His wife died August 13, 1910. They came to Blue Rapids in 1881 and Mr. McQuinney was employed in the woolen mills as long as they were in operation.
Deceased was a member of Robert Hale Post, G.A.R.
