Robert “Bob” P. Allen, 91, of Macksburg, passed away Tuesday, September 10, 2024 at MercyOne Medical Center in Des Moines.
Robert Phillip Allen, son of Charlie and Anna (Hildebrand) Allen, was born on May 23, 1933, in Madison County, Iowa. He graduated from Patterson High School in 1952 and following graduation, enlisted in the US Army. After returning home from service in Korea, he began a career in construction as a heavy equipment operator.
He met the love of his life, Helen Jackson, and they married in 1959, in Granite City, Missouri. Their marriage was blessed with three children: Matthew, Phillip and Kathy.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; six siblings; his wife, Helen; a son, Phillip; and a daughter, Kathy.
He is survived by his son, Matthew (Kristi) Allen of Macksburg; granddaughter, Kelli Gordon of Grimes; granddaughter, Angela (Dustin) McVay of Macksburg; grandson, Casey (Kate) Allen of Florida; granddaughter, Shayla (Leo) O'Brien of Peru; ten great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, Friday, September 20, 2024 at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home, Winterset Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM, Saturday, September 21, at the funeral home with burial to follow in the North McDonald Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family for future designations.
