Benjamin (Jan 21, 1884 53y 7m 1d GAR marker) & Wife Rachel (Feb 21, 1894 ag 69y 10m 15d are buried in the Last Chance Cem.
Also Rebecca wife of S. Aug 9, 1887, ag 70y 5m 2d.
Austin, son of B & R Feb 12, 1863 1y 3d
Hannah June 2, 1861
Ellen, Sept 28, 1854No Stephen.
Benjamin's & Rachel's ages may not be right or read right from the tombstones. According to the 1880 census Benjamin was 50 & Rachel 48.
There is no obit for him just that he had been to Humeston to attend to some business. When he got home he died. He was in his 60th year.

Rachel was born near New Holland, Ohio in 1833, the dau of a noted Baptist minister, Edward Parker. She married Benjamin in 1852 and they came to Iowa in 1855.
Benjamin was in the war for nearly 4 years, she cared to 2 little children, improved the farm, tended the crops and performed all farm labor.
There were 6 children living: William R. & Seaman W. living upon the old farm, Eden P. living in Kansas, Mrs. Mary Jones at Wayne, Nebraska, John W. at Ottumwa, and Amanda L. wife of Wm. B. Harger or Barger living in Chairton.
