Obituary of FOUNTAIN WILSON GRAY
Fountain Wilson Gray was born at Chariton, Iowa on April 2, 1858 and died at his home near Vona Colorado, September 10, 1933 at the age of 75 years, 5 months, and 8 days.
He came to Colorado twenty-six years ago last March. He located on a homestead north of Vona. He has resided ever since in the neighborhood of Vona. On June 11, 1881 he was united in marriage to Emma Florence Riley in Chariton, Iowa. About 40 years ago he converted to the United Brethern Church of Washington, Kansas. He is survived by his wife and six children: C.L. Gray, Lenora, Kansas; Mrs. R.R. Randall, Douglas, Wyoming; Frank Gray, Chariton , Iowa; John Gray , Vona, Colorado; Mrs. Ida Tapp, Denver, Colorado; Mrs. Esta Cochrane, Vona , Colorado; Two daughters died in infancy and a son, Clint Gray died in 1918 near Vona, Colorado. J.W. Gray of Isabelle, Kansas, a brother, still survives as do 26 grand-children and one great-grandchild, and many neighbors and friends who are made a sad by his going.
Funeral services were conducted from the Vona Baptist Church, Wednesday afternoon at 2:00p.m., Rev. Starr officating. John Warrick, Chester Burd, W.R. Deakin and Leander Becker sang "Rock Of Ages", "There IS A Home Eternal", and "Face To Face". Dan Turner, Tom Gorman, Nels Iverson, Ed Gagnon, Fred Fullendorf and A.B. Becker were the paulbearers. Internment was made in the Vona Cemetery. The Penny Mortuary of Burlington had charge of the funeral.
