Jasper N. Halferty was born in Lucas county on July 24, 1864 and departed this life at the Albia Hosital on July 2, 1921 at the age of 56 years, 11 months and 8 days.

All of his life has been spent in farming in this county. Good health has been his portion until about six weeks ago when he was severely kicked by a horse and found it necessary to seek treatment at a hospital, when he was taken to Albia. From the first his case was considered critical and later complications set in which resulted in his decease.

He leaves to mourn his departure, the wife and eleven children, William, Mrs. Myrtle Ansley, Mrs. Margaret Peterson, Matthew, Raymond, Dennis, Joseph, Glen, David, Robert, and Elizabeth, all of this county. Two children died in infancy. Two brothers, M. J. Halferty of Burlington Junction, Mo., and William of Lucas, and three sisters, Mary, Jane and Mrs. Eliza Donahue of Lucas, also survive.

Mr. Halferty has lived an earnest and energetic life and was a good father to the large family that grew up around him. His untimely going will be mourned by many relatives and friends.

The funeral service was conducted at the place of interment, Grimes cemetery, by the Rev. C. W. McCllelland, of the First Presybterian church of Chariton, on Monday forenoon at ten-o'clock.
