The people of Wapello were grieved to learn this morning of the death of James R. Madux which occurred last evening at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Geo. Adye, the immediate cause of his death being dropsy and a complication of diseases. He had been in poor health for the past year and death was not unexpected. During the time of his last illness he was closely confined to the home of his daughter, Mrs. Adye, where all that loving hand and tender care could do to make his last moment on earth peaceful. Patiently he awaited the end without a murmur till death released him.

Deceased was born in Henry county, Iowa, October 22, 1854 and was 59 years, 11 months and 2 days old at the time of his death. A short service will held at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Geo. R. Adye, tomorrow (Friday) morning at 11 o'clock, after which the body will be taken to the Cairo church, where at 2 p. m. the Rev. C.W. Sydman of the Presbyterian church of this city, will conduct the funeral services. Interment in Cairo cemetery.
