Page 8Phillip Hahn was born October 23, 1840 at West Heffen, Carmstadt, Germany and died at Grandview, Iowa, Sept. 1, 1914, aged 73 years, 10 months and 8 days. In his early life he came to America settling first at Lancaster county, Pennsylvania, at which place he was united in marriage to Miss Leah Huff, August 4, 1864. To this union six children were born, five of whom with rhe wife survive. The surviving children are: Mrs. Elizabeth Eberhardt of Spokane, Wash.; Charles Hahn, of Grandview; Mrs. Mary Kemp, of Grandview; Wm. Hahn of Grangeville, Idaho and Phillip Hahn of Taris, Ark.
In 1869 he removed to Louisa county where he has continuously resided. He engaged in agricultural pursuits and met with abundant success. In 1899 he removed to Grandview, where he resided until the time of his death. The funeral services were held Friday afternoon at his late home. Interment in Grandview cemetery.
