Mrs. Harriet Briggs Curtis, who died Saturday, was born in Lincolnshire, England, Oct. 13, 1831, being a little past 74 years of age. She came with her parents to America when a girl of 13 and was married to Seth C. Curtis, March 11, 1852. To them were born eight children of whom four are living. These are E. S., of Concord township; Mrs. Frances M. Hull, of Oklahoma City; W. L., of Columbus Junction and T. J. L., of Concord township. They are all at home expect Mrs. Hull, who could not get there in time for the funeral. Mr. Curtis died Feb. 12, 1894.

Mrs. Curtis was a good woman, always devoted to her family and to the Methodist church, of which she had been a member from girlhood. The funeral was held on Tuesday, Dec. 12, with a short service at the home of her son, conducted by Rev. Mr. Kendrick, of the M. E. church, of Columbus Junction, and a service was also held at the M. E. church at Letts, conducted by Rev. Mr. Chamberlain of the Church of God, near Letts, at 11 o'clock and the interment was at the later place.
