Gill Miner in CR looking for mistress

I have asked worse questions in the past years concerning skeletons in the closet but not this one. Maybe someone here will recognize the people involved?

My grandfather was Gilbert Louis Miner (1893-1961). He was married in 1914 but was having an affair with a woman in later years. My grandmother died in 1950 and it is said his mistress died in his apartment though she was still married.

All I know is that her first name was Sylvia, was a nurse, died in Gill Miner's apartment in Cedar Rapids posibly between 1951-1961, and that she was to have a red-haired daughter by him where she went to Minnesota to have the baby then came back and gave her up?

Does any of this ring a bell with anybody? Or can someone help?
