In Response To: Jeremiah Bishop GAR (Jim Christianson)

Looks like they were living at Morris township in Washington County, PA during the 1880 census. Shows:

Jeremiah - 36 laborer born PA
Adilia - 33 PA
Willie - 14 PA
Ida - 12 PA
Anna - 8 PA
Sarah - 6 PA
Mollie - 4 PA
Bessie - 2 PA

They didn't show up in Anamosa, Jones County until the 1910 census. Shows that Adelia had 6 children with 4 still living. Her daughter Ida was married and living with them with husband William McMann. But at that point it sais that Ida was born in Illinois which is obviously incorrect. Jeremiah was listed as K. Jeremiah Bishop.

Listed as J.K. Bishop in the 1900 census living at Clear Creek, Johnson County, IA. Sahows W. G. Bishop born (born Dec 1866 llinois) with wife Abbie (born Oct 1880 Iowa) living next door. Once again shows Willie born Illinois but again obviously incorrect. This time it said Adelia had 7 children with 4 living.

This leads me to believe that they settled at one time in Illinois between 1880-1900 but doesn't make sense to state the children were born there?

The 1925 Anamosa census shows Adelia H. Bishop age 78 with parents listed as John F. Lacy and Mary A. Waler.

Now, Ida M. is listed next door as Ida M. Bishop age 55 but shows a Nelson Bishop, age 15 but brother's child - says parents William Bishop and Abbie Conrad. Further up it shows a Jerry K. Bishop age 21 with parents William G. Bishop and Lulu A. Conrad.

That is all I find quickly... sure there is more out there and much you already have. Thought I noticed some marriage in Jones County but short on time to look - possibly one for Mollie? Since they are late comers to Iowa I would look in Pennsylvania for their roots.

Jim
