In Response To: Bowens Prairie Cem. Civil War Memorial (Char Backus)

Char:
I've taken a look at your tree on ancestry ... you are so fortunate to have those photos you mention. At one time Bowen's Prairie did encompass areas of Delaware, Jones and Dubuque counties. Bowen's Prairie Cemetery is exclusively in Jones County now. The death record I'm looking at says he died in Hopkinton, Delaware County so there might be more information through these resources:
Delaware County Historical Society and here are some links that may be of help:
Email: delcohistoricalsociety@gmail.com
Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/DCHSMC
Newspaper Archives: https://manchesteria.advantage-preservation.com/
Delaware County Death Certificates: Genealogy Research is not performed by the Delaware County Recorder’s Office. However, this office has land and vital records that are open to the public.
Other local genealogy Information sources:
Delaware County Genealogy Society
304 N Franklin Manchester,
Iowa 52057
OR Email delawareco.genealogy@gmail.com
Delaware County has a veteran's memorial in Hopkinton at the former Lennox College.
I hope this is of some help ... Jan Hoag
