Hi Tiffany, I have done a bit of research on the Boyle/Edwards families, and will share what I found: My great-grandmother, Jennie Edwards, was married to Richard Boyle. Prior to their marriage, she had a child out of wedlock, Lilly Mae, born March 12, 1873. I have not found info re: who her bio father was, but grandma said she was "English" and "Irish". Per the story told in our family, Jennie gave Lilly Mae to George and Emily Harter, who also lived in Stone City because Richard did not treat Lilly well, and the Harter's offered this help. They changed her name to Lillian Muriel and celebrated her birthday on March 23rd thereafter. They later moved to Austin, MN. Lillian lived to age 90, passing away in July of 1962. Richard and Jennie had 6 children: Charlie, Arthur, Martha, Freddie, Ellie, and Pearl. At some point, Jennie left Richard and married John Byerly (DOB 8/25/1825) and they were married for about 30 yrs, until his death 1/19/1917. John's first wife, Catherine, died about 1883, and Jennie and Richard's youngest child, Pearl, was born in 1887, so it was sometime in the later 1880's that she married John. John was a prominent member of the community, and they lived on a farm. Apparently, Richard kept the children, and they had lots of problems, spending time in orphanages and later, in jail.Jennie died in Nov.1917,at Correctionville. Per her obituary, (Monticello Express 11/25/17), she was brought back to Wyoming township and buried at So Mineral Cemetery. I cannot not find record of her being buried there, but husband John is there. There are several newspaper articles re: settling of the estate of Jennie Byerly, as they were trying to locate her heirs. I went to the courthouse and viewed the probate records in Anamosa.I also went to the library in Anamosa and saw records re: the Boyle children's placement in orphanages. I don't have a DOD for Richard Boyles. However, he did show up to try and claim some of Jennie's estate, so he was alive in 1919. Also, he had moved to Illinois and remarried, at some point, and had two sons. That wife divorced him. Hope this is helpful. I am particularly interested in any info re: Jennie Edwards. Do you know her DOB? What verification do you have that David Edwards was her father? I found info re: his DOD in 1853 at Silver Butte, MT. Any info would be appreciated.
