Anamosa Eureka
Mrs. Betty Elizabeth Humphrey, dau of Isaac and Annie Nash, was born in Dupage Co., IL 12,18/1853 and died at the home of her dau, Mrs. Mattie Meade, Anamosa, Sunday morning, Nov 14, having nearly attained her 84th birthday.
Mrs. Humphrey was one of a family of 7 children, all but one, Mrs. Marion Dikeman of Neligh, have preceded her in death. She was united in marriage to Lee T Humphrey at Neligh, NE in 1882 and he died in Seattle, WA in 1928.
Mrs. Humphrey was the mother of 9 children, and 4 remain alive: Mrs. Inez Miner of Council Bluffs, IA: Mrs. Mattie Meade of Anamosa: Mrs. Hazel Van Laningham, Summerville, MO and Fred Humphrey, of Seattle, WA. There are also 21 grandchildren & 22 great-grandchildren.

Russell Eugene Mead, son of Jay Eugene and Emma Chalker Mead, was born on 5/15/1873 at Baldwin, IA and died in Anamosa on 6/7/1951. He grew to young manhood on a farm near Maquoketa, IA and on 4/16/1901 he was married at Oxford Junction, IA to Mattie Viola Humphrey.(There is no marriage license in Jones Co.)
7 children: Russell Lee of Monticello: Jay Eugene of Des Moines: Ethel Bell (Mrs. Fred Beam) of Independence, MO: Della Delilah (Mrs. Ray McCormick) of Morley, IA, and Jessie of Anamosa. Two sons, Leon and Leroy died in infancy.
Golden Wedding Anniversary in 1951. Mr. Mead was employed by the IA Elec Co of Anamosa for approx. 43 years.
One sister: Mrs. Thomas Weiss of Fulton, IL
