I can see your confusion. First let me tell you what I see. It may be your people, but I can not be certain.

There is an estate settlement in Jones Co. in 1851 for heirs of Authur Thomas:
wife: Temperance
children: Augustus C. Thomas b 1836 WI

Arthur B.Thomas b 1838 IA

Mary Jane Thomas b 1847 IA

Arthur owned land in Washington Twp., Jones Co.

In 1880,
Arthur B appears to be in Story Co., Wash. Twp.
wife: Mary E born ME

children: Effie 12 b IA

Alice

Temperance

Nora

Augustus Thomas 23 b WI appears in Jones Co., Monticllo Twp. (I recognize that this is 10 years off-not unusual)
wife: Sarah A 17 b IA (is this Adaline?)
children: Stella 2 b IA

Franklin 1 month b IA
Mother-in-law: Sarah McCoy 48 b OH
Sister-in-law: Mary J McCoy 12 b IA

I do not find any of these people in the 1885 Iowa state census for Jones Co.

Monticello Cemetery-Lot 306 owned by Gus Thomas
Grave 1 Frank Thomas
Grave 2 Roland E Thomas
Grave 3 Adaline Thomas
Grave 4 Agustus Thomas (their spelling)
A cremation burial for Mabel Thomas 5/17/1988
There are no other dates included in the cemetery record card.

Roland Ellery Thomas died 9/29/1968
His death certificate says his parents were:
Olin and Alice (Eye) Thomas
I did not have time to read his probate data.

Regarding the first message I sent about the marriage of an Adaline Thomas and a Joseph Blaisdell-- These individuals are buried in the Olin Cem. While this Adaline Thomas may be related to yours, she is not the wife of Augustus Thomas.

If you want me to (or you could do this), I will contact the Monticello Cemetery record keepers and ask if they have other records that will give you more information.

Please let me know if you have additional information that will help me understand....
