Zimmerman

ZIMMERMAN, LUX

I have been reading the history of St. John's Lutheran. It appears that the name Zimmerman has some historical prominence in this congregation. My Grandfather's (Harold Zimmerman) family comes from Jones County (Monticello, Hopkinton and Sand Spring). His maternal family is the Lux family, who were devoutly Roman Catholic. It is belived that his mother, my Great Grandmother (Frances Aloyisis Lux) was married to a J.R. Zimmerman of Monticello. We have nothing but mention of this name briefly in a letter. That letter only says: "Did you hear about J.R. Zimmerman". This letter is dated sometime in the 1920s. We suspect that this marriage ended in divorce, as knowledge of him was not passed on to even his son. We also suspect that if J.R. Zimmerman was Lutheran, we know the Lux family was Catholic, that there would have been a gread rift in the Lux family, which may explain the absence of information. I do know that a J. Zimmerman at one time was a clothier in Monticello, I am not certain if this is the same person. Do you have any information you may be able to share with me? I would be grateful for whatever you know.
