Betty Hora, 58, passed away July 8 at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids. Funeral services were held July 10 at the Wyoming United Methodist Church, with Rev. Loren Simpson officiating. Burial was in the Wyoming cemetery.
Pallbearers were Delbert Mayberry, Cecil Lambert, Vernon Eganhouse, Marvin Lacock, Martin Botkin, and Clare Westphal, Jr.
Betty Dawes was born June 5, 1920, the daughter of Orlie and Nina Pealer Dawes. She graduated from Wyoming High School.
On July 6, 1946 she married Howard Hora at Davenport. The couple farmed near Olin for six years and near Onslow for four. They also operated a restaurant and gas station at the Olin corners for three years.
The couple then moved to Wyoming where Mrs. Hora worked at Herzberger Hardware for one year and then Wyoming Drug Store for 16 years.
Mrs. Hora was a member of the Wyoming United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her husband Howard, one daughter, Carol Simkins, Maquoketa; one brother, Orville, Keystone; and one grandson. She is preceded in death by her parents.
