Funeral services were held for Mrs. Mathilda M. Thomsen, 80, of Center Junction, on July 3 at 10:30 a.m. at Zion American Lutheran Church, Wyoming.
Mrs. Thomsen passed away June 30 at the Jackson County Public Hospital. Burial was in the Wyoming cemetery.
Pallbearers were Robert Hinrichs, Arnold Thomsen, William Thomsen, Marvin Thomsen, Ronald Parmenter and John Riches, Jr.
She was born near Charter Oak on May 8, 1898, the daughter of August and Berdina Westphalen Schlemmer.
On February 21, 1915, she married Mathias Thomsen at St. Paul, Minn. She had lived nearly all of her life in Jones County, with the last four years spent in the Maquoketa Care Center.
Survivors include two sons, Julius, Center Junction, and Marvin, Manchester; four daughters, Mrs. Anna Holtz, Wyoming, Mrs. Johanna Hinrichs, Onslow, Mrs. Lena Riches, Onslow and Mrs. Amanda Parmenter, Hale; 29 grandchildren and 46 great-grandchildren; two half-brothers, Otto Schlemmer, Anamosa, William Schlemmer, Maquoketa; five half-sisters, Mrs. Lillian Darkers, Cedar Rapids, Mrs. Gerald Nyberg, Toronto, Mrs. Elsie Robinson, Las Costa, Calif., Mrs. Esther Coback, San Francisco, Calif., and Mrs. Martha Switzer of Utah.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters, two half-brothers, one half-sister, two sons and four grandchildren.
