Mrs. Essie Belknap, 85, died Monday, Dec. 20, at Independence. She was the widow of John D. Belknap, who was a mail carrier in Anamosa a number of years ago.

Funeral service was conducted at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 23, at Goettsch funeral home with Rev. H. A. James officiating. Burial was in Riverside cemetery.

Former Essie Donald, she was born Aug. 15, 1869.

Surviving are a half-sister, Mrs. Florence Whitcombs, Marshalltown, and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Belknap died in 1940.
