9 September 1971 - The Anamosa Eureka

Robert Ray Heasty, 83, a lifetime resident of Jones county, died at Anamosa Community hospital Saturday, Sept. 4, 1971, after an illness of several weeks.

He was born at Scotch Grove Aug. 2, 1888, the son of Robert M. and Addie Applegate Heaty. He received his early education in the Jones county schools and on Dec. 31, 1908, he was married to Dollie Tebo. They farmed in Jones county until moving to Anamosa in 1954. Heasty worked in a grocery store and did carpenter work until his health failed about a year ago.

Mrs. Heasty preceded him in death Feb. 25, 1961, and on Sept. 27, 1962 he was married to Mrs. Ruth Remington, who survives, along with his three children; Robert, Martelle; Mrs. George (Hazel) Alexander, Cedar Rapids, and Donald, Anamosa. Also surviving are five grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren; a brother, Ralph Heasty, Cedar Rapids; three sisters, Mrs. Edna Storm, Olin; Mrs. Elma Fishwild, Clinton; Mrs. Lynne Chatterton, Onslow.
